The City of Port Wentworth Police Department (PWPD) is committed to working closely with all segments of the general public and government to preserve peace and provide a safe environment for the people who live and work in our community.
Port Wentworth maintains a modern, highly trained and well-equipped police department. Our basic mission is to maintain law and order, protect persons and property, apprehend criminals, direct and control traffic, investigate traffic accidents and enforce all state and City criminal laws.
The Port Wentworth Police Department utilizes a tool that provides City residents the chance to look at crime data, down to the specific neighborhood or block on which they live. Click to load current crime map.
CrimeReports.com is a standardized way to communicate crime data in near-real time, and in an easy to understand and usable format. It is free to the public and includes optional e-mail updates.
The information is pulled directly from the Records Management System of the Police Department and presented in a categorized web-based software. Crime incidents are highlighted under 15 general crime type categories and 21 subcategories of crime activity within our jurisdiction. This allows the data to be easily sorted by crime type, by date or by distance from a location. It is then presented on an interactive map display using standard map controls.
We believe the data will help increase public awareness of local crime issues, and encourage people to work cooperatively with local law enforcement to improve the safety of their families, property and community.
We hope this tool will empower you to make informed decisions to avoid becoming a victim of crime and to prevent and reduce crime in your area.
